THE MONTRÉAL URBAN ECOLOGY CENTRE (MUEC)
The Montréal Urban Ecology Centre (MUEC) is a non-profit organization founded in 1996 which aims to develop and share expertise on the most democratic and viable approaches to sustainable urban development. Its approach builds on social ecology to examine and better balance relationships between urban populations and nature, and to jointly address social and environmental issues, emphasizing the importance of the neighborhood and city levels and the fundamental right of citizens to take part in decisions that relate to the management of urban affairs.

The Centre leads projects in education, public awareness and research as well as demonstration projects on urban ecology, democracy and citizens participation.
